Lillian Namaganda, the Women’s Football Development Manager at Express FC, has been confirmed among the speakers at the Birmingham Uganda Investment Convention scheduled for August 22.
At the high-level gathering, Namaganda will deliver a focused presentation on positioning women’s football as a viable entertainment product and an emerging investment frontier across Africa.
Her address is expected to spotlight the sport’s expanding commercial appeal, as well as its capacity to drive youth empowerment, job creation and broader economic development.
A former player for MUBS Women’s Football team, Namaganda also featured for the 2022/23 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women’s Super League champions She Corporates WFC and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana.
Her journey in the game traces back to her pioneering role in advancing girls’ football at school level, notably at St Noa Girls School and Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga.
Beyond her playing career, she has built a reputation as a talent developer, having served as a player-manager for several prospects including national star Juliet Nalukenge.
At the Birmingham convention, Namaganda is expected to challenge entrenched perceptions that football is exclusively a men’s domain, while also confronting narratives that question the quality and commercial viability of the women’s game.
She will make a strong case for strategic investment in grassroots structures, infrastructure, coaching and sponsorship as key levers to unlock the sector’s full potential.
Her participation reflects a shifting paradigm where women’s football is increasingly viewed not just as sport, but as a dynamic platform for business, leadership and sustainable development.
Namaganda will be joined by Clubs Projects Officer Lauryn Jackie Kansiime, who is set to focus on mobilising sponsorship and expanding cross-border partnerships for Express FC, further reinforcing the club’s commitment to growing its footprint within and beyond Uganda.
