Kasawo Islamic Secondary School Mukono has been officially awarded the hosting rights for the 7th edition of the Inter-Islamic Secondary Schools Association of Uganda (ISSAU) Games, scheduled to take place in Term II of 2027.
The announcement followed the successful conclusion of the 2026 edition, which climaxed on Friday, July 3, at Buziga Islamic Theological Institute in Kampala.
The latest edition further highlighted the steady growth of the ISSAU Games, both in participation and diversity of disciplines.
This year’s competition featured 11 disciplines, including the debut of basketball, signaling the association’s continued expansion. Outdoor events comprised football, netball, volleyball, and basketball, while indoor activities included Public Speaking (English and Arabic), poetry, quiz, Qur’an recitation, and Hadith.
Seven schools competed in the indoor segment, with standout performances across categories.
Bilal Islamic Secondary School Bwaise excelled in Qur’an Recitation (Boys) and Public Speaking (Arabic), while Bilal Islamic Institute Kakiri claimed victory in Qur’an Recitation (Girls).
Madinah Islamic Secondary School Nsangi dominated quiz, poetry, and Public Speaking (English), and Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana topped the Hadith category.
In outdoor competitions, ten schools participated.
Greenlight Islamic Secondary School Nansana made history by securing back-to-back football titles, becoming the first school to achieve the feat.
Hamdan Islamic Secondary School Nakifuma clinched the netball crown after a narrow 12–11 win over Greenlight in a thrilling final.
Hosts Buziga Islamic Theological Institute triumphed in volleyball, while Qamar High School Bunamwaya etched their name in the record books as inaugural basketball champions.
Historically, the ISSAU Games have rotated among key hosts, including Madinah Islamic Secondary School Nsangi (2019, 2022, 2025), Hamdan Islamic Secondary School Nakifuma (2023), and Wakiso Muslim Secondary School (2024), with Buziga hosting the 2026 edition.
The ISSAU Games continue to advance their vision of nurturing a unified, God-conscious generation through academic excellence and co-curricular engagement.
The platform promotes talent development, unity among schools, and holistic education grounded in Islamic values.
With Kasawo Islamic School set to take over hosting duties in 2027, expectations are high for an even more competitive and inclusive edition.
