Week five of the Uganda Boxing Champions League unfolded in emphatic fashion, producing a glamorous and action-packed evening that featured over twenty bouts on a stacked fight card.

Backed by a vibrant crowd and attended by a host of socialites, the event was defined by three standout highlights that underscored the competition’s growing stature.

The headline bout of the night, a light welterweight (63.5kg) contest, pitted two high-profile heads of security for popular musicians against each other in a compelling five-round clash.

Reagan Magumba, who leads Alien Skin’s security team, delivered a commanding performance to secure a unanimous 5:0 victory over Reagan Lubega, alias “Canelo,” of Nina Rose’s security outfit.

The win marked Magumba’s first appearance in season five, while Lubega was featuring for the second time, having previously stopped Leone Kiggundu.

Notably, this was the pair’s second meeting this year, with Magumba also emerging victorious by the same 5:0 margin at the National Open earlier in the season.

In the second highlight, a heavyweight contest saw Jonah Galiwango take on Lawrence Kayiwa in a bout that signaled Kayiwa’s return after a two-season absence.

Despite a promising start in the opening round, Kayiwa’s comeback was cut short after he suffered a nosebleed injury.

The referee halted the contest in the second round, awarding Galiwango victory by Referee Stopped Contest (RSC).

The third major highlight featured Katabi’s rising star Vanessa Nagawa, who continues to announce herself on the elite stage.

Competing in the ladies’ featherweight division, Nagawa delivered a dominant display to defeat UPDF’s experienced Joyce Kugonza by a unanimous 5:0 decision.

Fresh from transitioning from the junior ranks, Nagawa controlled all five rounds with remarkable composure and authority.

The Boxing Champions League continues to silence its early critics, breaking new ground and increasingly positioning itself as one of the most innovative sporting platforms of the decade.

Elsewhere on the card, Kololo High School Boxing Club’s Nerrick Tumusiime “Bulabe” secured a convincing 5:0 victory over George Ssegawa, while Kevin Kizza registered a knockout win against Tonny Bisaso in a special contest. Reagan Musoke also impressed with a 5:0 triumph over Frank Mawanda.

Selected Results:

Reagan Magumba bt Reagan Lubega — 5:0

Nerrick Tumusiime “Bulabe” bt George Ssegawa — 5:0

Vanessa Nagawa bt Joyce Kugonza — 5:0

Reagan Musoke bt Frank Mawanda — 5:0
