St. Noa Girls 18-22 St. Mary’s Kitende

It’s always an interesting tie when the two horses of Uganda Secondary Schools netball St. Mary’s Kitende and St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana meet.

A four goals difference has separated the two East African power houses as St. Mary’s Kitende won the Entebbe road and famous Wakiso district derby in a 22-18 thrilling 2022 National Netball Novices final played at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.

A tight contest was decided in the final half as Kitende increased the gap by three to win 22-18 from a 10-11 first stanza score.

To set up an all Entebbe road affair, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana eliminated Kawanda SS by 17-15 as champions Mary’s Kitende beat traditional rivals Buddo SS 25-19 in the semi-finals.

A low turn up edition of the Uganda Netball Federation organized championship that attracted only ten schools started in Friday 11th March, was hosted at Kawempe Muslim Secondary in Kampala.

St. Mary’s Kitende and Kawanda SS came out of group A, whilst St. Noa Girls Secondary Schools-Zana and Buddo SS qualified to the semi final stage from Group B as 1st and 2nd placed respectively.

The championship returned after a year of halt since it’s last occurrence in 2020.

This event is another potential test series for school teams ahead of Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Ball Games I set for May.

Group A comprised St. Mary’s Kitende, Kawanda SS, Baptist High School, Broadway High School and Blessed Sacrament Kimaanya.

Group B was made up of leaders St. Noa Girls Secondary Schools-Zana, Buddo SS, Canaan, Standard High Kateera and Kawempe Muslim Secondary School.
