MOROGORO, Tanzania — Light College Katikamu (LICOKA) will step into unfamiliar territory on Friday when they make their historic debut at the Federation of East Africa School Sports Association (FEASSA) Netball Championship in Morogoro.

The fast-rising Ugandan side will begin their regional campaign against Tanzania’s Mkolani, marking a significant milestone in the school’s growing netball journey.

LICOKA’s participation was briefly thrown into uncertainty after the school was among nine Ugandan teams affected by travel disruptions linked to compliance with Ministry of Works and Transport requirements.

After securing the required clearance, however, the team was given the green light to continue its journey to Tanzania.

The affected Ugandan contingent arrived in Morogoro on Thursday, just in time to turn their attention to the competition.

For LICOKA, Friday’s encounter offers an opportunity to announce themselves on the regional stage and test their progress against opposition beyond Uganda.

Elsewhere, reigning champions St. Mary’s Kitende begin their title defence against Kenya’s Bukokholi, with the Ugandan powerhouse expected to immediately set the pace in their quest to retain the crown.

Uganda’s St. Noa Girls face Tanzanian giants Mbeya, while Hamdan take on fellow hosts Vwawa in the other opening-day fixtures.

The FEASSA championship will run through August 22 in Morogoro, bringing together school teams from across East Africa.
