Kyantamba Secondary School – Kiboga’s remarkable ascent to the summit of schools netball in the Luweero Zone was crowned in fitting fashion, with the school’s administration gifting the victorious team a bull for a celebratory nyama choma feast following their championship triumph.
The gesture came moments after Kyantamba edged rivals Nankabirwa Memorial 25–23 in a gripping Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Luweero Zone final held at Nakasongola Army Secondary School on Wednesday, July 1.
Head teacher Aminah Nassozi Kaire hailed the team’s achievement as a defining milestone, emphasizing both gratitude and ambition.
“We thank God for this great success. I appreciate the technical team led by Coach Ephraim Mujabi and our Games Teacher Ahamed Batte Kaire,” she noted.
“The foundation is now firmly laid—we must go on to conquer and dominate in the coming years. The bull from the directors is a token of appreciation for your hard work and dedication.”
Beyond the silverware and celebrations, the victory carried deeper meaning.
It was a statement of resilience. Kyantamba had earlier suffered a narrow and controversial 17–16 defeat to the same opponents in the Group B decider, only to overturn that result when it mattered most—showcasing composure, tactical discipline, and mental fortitude on the biggest stage.
Their route to the title underlined that grit. Entering the knockout phase as Group B runners-up, Kyantamba first edged Group C leaders High Standard – Kateera 19–17 in a tense quarter-final clash.
They then delivered a controlled and authoritative display in the semi-finals, overcoming Amazing Grace Secondary School 23–20 to book their place in the final.
Nankabirwa Memorial, equally formidable en route, demonstrated attacking fluency with a commanding 30–17 victory over Homeland Secondary School in the quarter-finals, before grinding out a 20–17 win against Busiika Muslim Secondary School in the semi-finals to set up a high-stakes rematch.
The final itself lived up to its billing—a fiercely contested duel defined by intensity and fine margins. Kyantamba held their nerve in the decisive moments, executing with precision to secure a 25–23 victory and complete a remarkable turnaround against their earlier conquerors.
What makes the triumph even more extraordinary is the timeline.
Barely one year and four months since its establishment, Kyantamba Secondary School has rapidly evolved into a dominant force across the greater Luweero Zone.
In the current season alone, the school has clinched four major titles across U17 and U20 categories, emerging as both Kiboga District and Greater Luweero Zone champions in each age group—an achievement that underscores a well-structured and high-performance sporting program.
Central to this meteoric rise is head coach Ephraim Mujabi, whose tactical acumen and structured approach have transformed the team into a cohesive and formidable unit within a remarkably short period.
The unwavering backing from the school’s administration has further reinforced this upward trajectory.
Attention now shifts to the national stage. Kyantamba, alongside Nankabirwa Memorial, Amazing Grace Secondary School, Busiika Muslim Secondary School, Saviour High School, and High Standard – Kateera, will represent the Luweero Zone at the 2026 USSSA National Championship.
The tournament is slated for July 8–19 at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu, where the region’s finest will contest for national supremacy—and where Kyantamba’s burgeoning legacy faces its next defining test.
