Prisons Netball Club bounced back from last weekend’s narrow defeat to UCU Angels with a dramatic 55-54 victory over defending champions KCCA Netball Club in the Uganda Netball Super League on Saturday.
The pulsating encounter was played under floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds, on October 24, with Prisons holding their nerve to hand KCCA their first defeat of the season.

The prison wardens started slowly, trailing 14-10 in the opening quarter, but responded with a 16-13 second-quarter performance to reduce the deficit to 27-26 at half-time.
The third quarter ended 14-14 before both sides managed 13 goals apiece in the final period, leaving Prisons with a slender one-goal victory after an intense contest.
The result lifted Prisons to third place with 20 points from 11 matches, level with KCCA, who retain second position on a superior goal difference.
UCU Angels remain top with 22 points from 12 matches.

KCCA were without defender Shafie Nalwanjja, who served a one-match suspension following an incident during their 52-42 victory over Buddo last weekend.
Nalwanjja had protested consecutive decisions by umpire Wycliffe Nahayo and was initially suspended for two minutes before a confrontation involving Lean Gill and her mother, umpire assessor Zubedah Nassanga, escalated the situation.
The incident resulted in Nalwanjja receiving a one-match suspension, Gill being barred from the stadium for one match, and Nassanga receiving a warning.

Prisons’ victory was particularly significant following their heartbreaking 46-45 loss to UCU Angels last weekend, when the university side overturned a five-goal half-time deficit to claim victory.
Prisons had led 25-20 at the break but struggled after the interval, with UCU winning the third quarter 13-8 before edging the final period 13-12 to complete the comeback.

The latest result provides Prisons with an important response as the race for the league title intensifies.
