Prisons Netball Club handed NIC Netball Club their second successive defeat of the 2026/27 season, grinding out a thrilling 42–40 victory in a fiercely contested Uganda Netball Super League encounter at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, on Saturday, 10 October.

In a pulsating contest that went down to the wire, the prison wardens held their nerve to preserve their unbeaten run, stretching it to eight consecutive matches and strengthening their position in the upper half of the league table.
Prisons seized early control, winning the opening two quarters 11–9 and 11–8 to establish a five-goal advantage at half-time.

NIC, however, returned from the break with renewed determination, launching a spirited comeback that threatened to turn the contest on its head.
They took the third quarter 12–7 before edging the final period 13–11.
Despite winning both second-half quarters, NIC could not undo the damage inflicted before the interval, falling agonisingly short by two goals as Prisons claimed maximum points.

The victory lifted Prisons to fourth place with 16 points, level with third-placed Weyonje but trailing on goal difference.
NIC remained fifth with 14 points from nine games, although they later salvaged some pride with a 49–45 victory over Canan in the final match of the day, played under floodlights.

UCU Angels maintain their commanding lead
Elsewhere, league leaders UCU Angels continued their impressive campaign with a commanding 41–23 victory over Dynamite, taking their tally to 20 points from 11 matches.
The university side maintained their grip on top spot, while defending champions KCCA climbed to second place on 18 points from nine games after recording two victories on the day.
KCCA opened proceedings with a 61–45 triumph over Kajjansi Progressive before completing a successful double with a convincing 57–39 win against Police Netball.
The defending champions’ double strengthened their title defence and kept them firmly in contention behind UCU Angels, with games in hand offering further room to close the gap.
Weyonje occupied third place with 16 points from 10 matches, sitting level on points with Prisons, who remain fourth courtesy of an inferior goal difference.

KCCA and Prisons remain unbeaten
Saturday’s results further underlined the growing intensity of the league, with KCCA and Prisons emerging as the only two sides still unbeaten in the campaign.
While KCCA continued to demonstrate the firepower expected of defending champions, Prisons showed their resilience by withstanding NIC’s late surge in one of the day’s most competitive encounters.
With UCU Angels setting the pace, KCCA chasing closely and Prisons maintaining their unbeaten momentum, the race for supremacy in the 2026/27 Uganda Netball Super League is gathering momentum.
