USSSA National Ball Games I set to kick off with high anticipation after arrival of teams

The stage is set for the highly anticipated 2025 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Ball Games I, which kicks off this Tuesday, May 6th, at Bukedea Comprehensive School in Teso Zone.

The championship, running from May 5th to 14th, 2025, promises to be an exciting event, featuring a diverse range of 11 sports disciplines.

A total of 284 teams, comprising over 4,000 students and 700 officials, have converged at Bukedea Comprehensive School, which has undergone modernization to accommodate the participants.

The games will feature football for girls, basketball 5×5, rugby 15, hockey, badminton, table tennis, and tennis, as well as the U16 championship in netball, basketball 3X3, volleyball, and handball.

Action will commence this Tuesday, May 6th, across various venues, including Amus CCollege’s five playgrounds, which will host girls’ football and basketball.

Other football venues include Bukedea Comprehensive School, Bukedea Primary School, Atutur Town FC Stadium, and St. Theresa Okungulo.

Hockey will be played at Mbale School of Hygiene, rugby at Mbale Rugby Union Grounds, and badminton at Bukedea Comprehensive School Main Hall.

In a bid to promote sports and cultural tourism, a “cultural night gala” will be held on Monday, May 12th, from 6 pm to 8 pm at the host school’s compound.

The finals of different categories will take place on Tuesday, May 13th, and teams will depart on Wednesday, May 14th.

With such a thrilling lineup, the 2025 USSSA National Ball Games I promises to be an unforgettable experience for participants and spectators alike.
