KCCA FC has taken a significant advantage in the Stanbic Uganda Cup semi-final, cruising past Kataka 3-0 in the first leg at the MTN Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

A brace from Emmanuel Anyama and a goal from Ashraf Mugume gave the 10-time Uganda Cup champions a comfortable advantage ahead of the return leg.

The match was an intense affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities.

Kataka’s Muhammed Biafulo threatened KCCA’s goal, but Mutwalibu Mugoloofa made crucial saves to keep his team intact.

KCCA’s persistence paid off as Emmanuel Anyama broke the deadlock on the stroke of halftime, capitalizing on a flick from Joel Sserunjogi.

Anyama doubled the lead early in the second half with a thunderous shot from outside the box that left Kataka goalkeeper Chris Nsubuga with no chance.

Ashraf Mugume sealed the win with nine minutes to play, converting from a João Gabriel cross.

The 3-0 result gives KCCA a commanding lead ahead of the return leg on Sunday, May 18th, at Mbale Municipal Stadium.

Kataka will need a significant turnaround to overcome the deficit and progress to the final.
