Uganda Rugby Premiership kicks off with emphatic sponsorships from Nile Special and Rockboom

The 2026 Uganda Rugby Premiership season is set to ignite, with defending champions Pirates facing off against Kobs at King’s Park in Bweyogerere on February 7, 2026.

The season launch at Copper Chimney Restaurant in Lugogo, Kampala, revealed signature sponsorships from Nile Special and Rockboom, totaling UGX 2.3 billion of 1.3 and 1B contributions respectively.

Uganda Rugby Union president Godwin Kayangwe expressed excitement about the partnerships, stating, “Uganda Rugby Union is happy to grow further its partnerships with Rockboom/Crystal Water and Nile Special as we embark onto the 2026 Uganda Rugby Premiership season.

The packages are a huge boost ahead of the season and we anticipate a highly competitive and exciting season.”

Rockboom’s Samuel Hooper emphasized their commitment to energizing the game, saying, “As the official energy partner, Rockboom is stepping onto the pitch with one goal: to turn every match into a high-octane celebration of Energy for winners.”

Nile Special’s Gitahi Wangechi announced an innovative “16th Man” award, celebrating fans’ passion and support.

“We as Nile Special we are going to be celebrating the 16th man, the fan that is going to be at the games. And every single match day, we are going to be awarding the fan of the day,” Wangechi said.

The season promises thrilling matchups, including Nile Rapids vs Thunderbirds at Ruck Yard and Pirates vs Kobs at King’s Park.
