The 2025 Kabaka Cup witnessed an exhilarating day of football in group E, as Greenlight Islamic Secondary School, St. Julian High School, and Skyline SS clashed in a series of intense matches.

The highlight of the day was the 1-1 draw between National boys football champions St. Julian High School and Greenlight Islamic Secondary School – Nansana.

The highly entertaining tie, played at Mbogo Mixed Grounds on a sweltering Wednesday evening, saw Greenlight take the lead through Ian Tabingwa’s tap-in, courtesy of a mesmerizing run by Simon Peter Okwi.

However, St. Julian High School equalized late in the second half, as forward James Ssekate slotted the ball past the goalkeeper into the low corner.

The day’s final match between Skyline SS and St. Julian High School was an equally thrilling encounter.

Despite St. Julian’s 1-0 victory, courtesy of Mungujakisa Saviour’s penalty conversion, the youthful Skyline SS team dominated possession and pushed their opponents to the limit, earning plaudits from the enthusiastic crowd.

The group’s final match will take place tomorrow, as Greenlight Islamic faces off against Skyline SS at Mbogo Mixed Grounds.

This year’s Kabaka Cup edition has attracted 40 boys’ football teams, divided into 10 groups.

The five-day championship, which commenced on March 12th, will culminate on Sunday, March 16th, at Kawanda Secondary School.

The official opening ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, March 13th, featuring a high-profile all-Islamic affair tie between hosts Kawanda SS and Kyadondo.
