In elite sport, individual brilliance often captures headlines—but at Baptist High School, it is collective ethos that defines greatness.
Newly crowned Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Kampala Zone Netball Championship Most Valuable Player, Shivan Nagawa, has distilled her personal accolade into a testament of unity, discipline, and shared ambition.
Operating with clinical precision in the goal-shooter (GS) role, Nagawa was the fulcrum of Baptist High’s imperious campaign, amassing over 109 goals across six matches.
Yet, in the aftermath of a hard-fought 23–21 victory over Kibuli Secondary School in the final, her reflections were firmly anchored in team dynamics rather than individual acclaim.
“I’m thankful to God for the success,” Nagawa noted.

“This achievement is rooted in teamwork, hard work, and discipline. The unity within the squad has been central to how we have supported each other throughout this journey.”
That journey has now extended into a legacy. Baptist High’s latest triumph marks a sixth consecutive Kampala Zone title—an extraordinary run built on tactical cohesion, mental resilience, and sustained excellence.
Their route to the crown was nothing short of dominant: emphatic group-stage victories, a commanding 32–7 quarter-final display against St. Kizito SS, and a composed 29–20 semi-final win over Broadway High School.
Even in the final, where Kibuli SS mounted a formidable challenge, Baptist’s structural discipline and game management under pressure proved decisive—hallmarks of a team accustomed to winning.
For Nagawa and her teammates, however, regional dominance is no longer the ultimate objective.
The squad’s focus has already shifted to the national stage, with a far more ambitious target in sight: securing qualification for the Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Championship—a milestone the school has yet to achieve.

“We are now focused on the national championship,” Nagawa emphasized. “Qualifying for FEASSA for the first time in our history is a dream shared by everyone—players, coaches, and administrators alike.”
The upcoming national championship, set to take place at Sacred Heart Secondary School in Gulu from July 8 to 18, presents both a challenge and an opportunity.
With Kampala’s top six sides advancing, the competitive landscape will intensify—but Baptist High arrives not merely as participants, but as a side intent on translating regional supremacy into national and, potentially, continental recognition.
In Nagawa, Baptist High possesses more than just a prolific scorer; they have a symbol of their philosophy—where excellence is engineered collectively, and success is pursued with unwavering discipline.
