KAMPALA — The Uganda Netball Super League produced a compelling weekend of action at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, with five fixtures delivering contrasting fortunes as the race at the top of the table intensified.
Record champions NIC Netball Club emerged as the biggest beneficiaries, securing two victories to move to 12 points from six matches and strengthen their position among the leading contenders.
NIC began their day with a hard-fought 39–32 victory over Buddo Secondary School before completing a profitable double with a 55–37 triumph over UGX-Luweero in the evening.
The brace lifted NIC from third into second place, level on 12 points with Prisons and behind leaders Prisons on goal difference.
KCCA Netball Club remains third on 10 points after spending two weeks of no game.
For Buddo, the opening defeat over NIC was quickly forgotten as they responded emphatically in their second assignment, dispatching Dynamite Academy 42–27 in an all-schools encounter.
Elsewhere, Weyonje claimed one of the weekend’s notable results with a 42–38 victory over Police Netball Club.
Police endured a difficult outing, with excessive turnovers, repeated losses of possession and poor conversion undermining their performance.
It was arguably their least convincing display of the campaign so far, as Weyonje capitalised on the lapses to secure a valuable win.
Uganda Christian University (UCU), meanwhile, produced a commanding performance to overcome army side UPDF Netball Club 47–33.
The fixture marked UPDF’s final league engagement before they turn their attention to the 2026 Inter-Forces Games, scheduled for 22 August to 5 September in Gulu City.
The Inter-Forces Games will be hosted by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces, with the competitions set to take place at Layibi College.
