The race for quarterfinal places at the 2026 USSSA Kampala Regional Qualifiers has reached a critical phase, with only a handful of group stage fixtures left and several teams still in contention for the remaining slots.

Already assured of progression are Lubiri Secondary School and Buziga Theological Institute, who have both delivered commanding performances to book their places in the last eight with games to spare.

Lubiri SS have emerged as the dominant force in Group C, maintaining a perfect record with four wins in four matches.

Their latest statement performance came in a composed 2-0 victory over City High School, courtesy of goals from Marith Abuyi and James Ssali.

Earlier, they had brushed aside Kyambogo College 3-0, underlining their attacking efficiency and defensive solidity.

In Group A, Buziga Theological Institute have mirrored that authority, stringing together three consecutive victories to secure early qualification.

Their consistency has positioned them as one of the teams to beat heading into the knockout phase.

Elsewhere, the battle for qualification remains fiercely contested.

Uganda Martyrs High School kept their hopes alive with a disciplined 2-0 win over Kololo SS, with Kalyesubula James and Kavuma Medie finding the net.

However, they now face a decisive must-win encounter against Bishop Kihangire in their final group fixture to secure progression.

Kololo SS, despite that setback, bounced back with a narrow 1-0 victory over Bishop Kihangire, thanks to a solitary strike from Josiah Grace, keeping their own qualification ambitions intact.

Kakungulu Memorial displayed resilience across their fixtures, edging Kawempe Muslim SS 1-0 through a superb long-range effort from Ampurire Kevin before settling for a 1-1 draw against Mengo SS.

Mengo, on their part, had earlier registered a 2-1 victory over Luzira SS to stay firmly in the mix.

Kibuli SS also strengthened their position with a convincing 3-1 win over Kazo Hill College, while Bishop Cyprian Kihangire and Buziga Islamic both impressed with identical 3-1 victories against Caltec Academy.

With qualification scenarios still unresolved in several groups, the final round of fixtures promises high-stakes action as teams make their last push for quarterfinal berths.

The knockout phase is scheduled to commence tomorrow afternoon, with quarterfinal matches set to be staged at Ham Stadium Nakivubo, Mengo SS, and Kibuli SS.
