The StarTimes Uganda Premier League title race tightened further after Vipers SC and Kitara FC settled for a tense goalless draw in a pulsating Match Day 22 encounter at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

With both sides carrying heavy ambitions at the summit, the contest unfolded as a fiercely contested tactical battle rather than a free-flowing spectacle.

Referee Ashadu Ssemeere kept a firm grip on proceedings as emotions threatened to spill over in a clash defined by intensity, discipline, and caution.

Vipers, playing under the floodlights and backed by a vibrant home crowd, made the brighter start, asserting early control and probing for openings.

However, Kitara gradually grew into the contest, disrupting the hosts’ rhythm and ensuring the game remained finely balanced.

The Venoms would later finish strongly, but neither side could find the decisive breakthrough.

Clear-cut chances were limited, though both teams carved out moments of promise in a match where defensive organisation and midfield battles took precedence.

The physicality and urgency reflected the stakes, with every duel fiercely contested.

At full time, the stalemate ensured both teams walked away with a point that could yet prove significant in the title run-in.

Vipers moved to 51 points from 22 matches, maintaining their lead at the top, while Kitara advanced to 47 points, keeping themselves firmly within striking distance as the season approaches its climax.

Individually, Taddeo Lwanga stood out with a commanding performance in midfield, earning the Man of the Match accolade for his composure, ball recovery, and control in a high-pressure encounter.

Ultimately, while the goals were absent, the encounter delivered a compelling narrative of title contenders unwilling to yield—setting up an intriguing finish to the campaign.
