The decision by newly re-elected Uganda Youth Football Association (UYFA) chairman Roberts Kiwanuka to bring Hajji Jafari Ssenganda onto his executive committee could prove to be one of the defining appointments of the association’s new four-year mandate.
Ssenganda was appointed Vice President in charge of Administration as the UYFA General Assembly ushered in a new executive that will steer the association until 2029.
The elective assembly was held on Saturday, 22 August 2026, at FUFA Hotel in Kisaasi, with Kiwanuka retaining the chairmanship unopposed for a second consecutive term.
For Kiwanuka, the choice of Ssenganda appears to go beyond filling an administrative portfolio.
It brings into the UYFA leadership an educationist, sports investor and experienced administrator whose work has increasingly intersected with youth development and sports.
Speaking about the appointment, Kiwanuka expressed confidence in what Ssenganda brings to the new administration.
“With him, his experience and knowledge, UYFA is destined for greatness,” Kiwanuka said.
He added: “He is a highly qualified administrator, passionate about sports and a true sports investor. I believe in what we are destined to achieve in the next four years.”
Ssenganda is the proprietor of Twinbrook Schools, an institution that has established itself in Uganda’s education sector.
His vision for combining education with sport subsequently gave birth to Twinbrook Sports Academy and Skilling Centre, creating a platform where young people can develop both sporting and practical skills.
The academy has invested in modern sporting infrastructure, including a football stadium, training pitches—some fitted with artificial turf—a semi-Olympic swimming pool and indoor sporting facilities.
That infrastructure has positioned Twinbrook as a notable model for sports development and a potential benchmark for institutions seeking to integrate education, talent development and sports infrastructure.
Over nearly a decade, Ssenganda’s Twinbrook Schools and Twinbrook Sports Academy and Skilling Centre have produced more than 9,000 alumni, several of whom have ventured into sport, including football, table tennis, swimming, basketball and other disciplines.
His influence in sport has also extended beyond infrastructure and education.
Recently, Ssenganda unveiled Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello and former Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango, one of Africa’s most accomplished goalkeepers, as brand ambassadors for Twinbrook Sports Academy.
The partnership is intended to give young athletes access to inspiration and mentorship from accomplished Ugandan football figures.
It is this combination of administrative experience, investment in sport, youth development and institutional leadership that makes Ssenganda’s elevation to the UYFA executive particularly significant.
With youth football increasingly demanding stronger structures, better talent pathways, quality facilities and sustainable investment, Ssenganda arrives at UYFA with practical experience in areas the association will need to strengthen.
His appointment, therefore, offers Kiwanuka’s administration not merely an experienced administrator, but a leader with first-hand exposure to building sporting programmes and nurturing young talent.
The new executive now has four years to translate its mandate into tangible progress, with Ssenganda expected to play a central administrative role in shaping the association’s direction.
