Defending champions St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School – Kitende have this evening secured a 2-0 victory against a stubborn Highway SS of Kenya.

The win was a perfect revenge for Kitende who lost to the same side by 1-0 in the 2022 semi-finals held in Arusha, Tanzania.

Denis Kisiriko and Santos Agok were on target for Daniel Male’s boys to register their first win at the championship.

While addressing the media after the tie, Male admitted Highway is a strong side despite their win.

“We lost to them in Arusha at the semi final stage. They are a strong team but, we studied them well.

They never changed the game plan, so we had to press them hard in their half such that they make mistakes.

It eventually worked for us but they are really a strong team and it was a tough game”. Male Daniel.

Andreas Odhiambo scored the all-important goal via a well struck penalty in the 70th minute as Highway eliminated Kitende in 2022 Arusha, Tanzania edition.

The penalty followed a handball call by referee Emmanuel Mwandembwa after a handball incident in the forbidden area by Aggrey Madoi.

Meanwhile, co-host Amus College School bottled a 1-0 lead to draw 2-2 with Kenya’s Musingu Secondary School.

Elsewhere, APE-Rugunga of Rwanda drew 2-2 with Kalangalala from Tanzania.
