Two heavily remodelled sides meet at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru on Sunday when BUL FC welcome Express FC in a 4pm Uganda Premier League encounter.
The fixture presents an early opportunity for both clubs to measure the impact of sweeping changes made during the transfer window, with neither side looking anything like the teams that ended the previous campaign.
BUL have released more than 11 players as they reshape their squad, leaving coach with a relatively inexperienced group to mould into a competitive unit.
Uganda youth international Okello is expected to carry much of the attacking responsibility for the Jinja-based outfit, alongside Edward Masembe, Faizo Matovu and midfielders George Kasonko and Pascal Ngobi.
Express have gone even further in their reconstruction, bringing in more than 19 new players as Morley Byekwaso begins his tenure with the Red Eagles.
The former Uganda Cranes coach will be under pressure to turn the extensive recruitment into tangible improvement after four to five seasons in which Express have struggled to meet expectations.
Rogers Atube, Shafik Batambuze, Mathias Kigonya and Isaac Wagoina, who returns to Express after previously featuring for BUL could make their competitive bows in Njeru.
Alpha Ssali is another returning face expected to feature, while musician-turned-footballer Derrick ‘Rickman’ Ddungu adds further intrigue to Byekwaso’s revamped squad.
A positive result would offer an early boost to either project, making the Njeru clash a useful first gauge of how quickly the two rebuilt teams can find their identity.
Elsewhere on Sunday, Maroons FC host URA FC at Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, with the visitors also entering a new era under Jimmy Kintu Mwera.
