Crested Cranes winger Catherine Nagadya has completed a high-profile transfer to Egyptian Women Premier League powerhouse Al Ahly Women SC, signing a two-year contract with the continental giants.
The move underscores the growing footprint of Ugandan talent in Egypt’s topflight, with Nagadya becoming the fifth (5th) Ugandan to feature in the league.
She currently joins Bridget Nabisaalu (Modern Sport) and Phiona Nabulime (FC Masar), further strengthening Uganda’s representation abroad.
Aisha Nantongo and Shadia Nankya (FC Masar) are the other Ugandans who featured in the Egyptian Women Premier League before.
Al Ahly Women, established in September 2021 as the female arm of Africa’s most decorated club, have quickly emerged as title contenders.
They finished runners-up last season, trailing champions FC Masar by five points, and are expected to mount a stronger challenge in the upcoming campaign.
For Nagadya, the transfer marks a significant step in an upward career trajectory defined by pace, direct attacking play, and consistency on the wing.
She exits Kampala Queens as a proven winner, having played a key role in securing two Women Super League titles and a Women’s Cup during her stint with the club.
Her rise has been steady. Before joining Kampala Queens in 2023, Nagadya featured for Makerere University and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga, where she honed her craft and built her reputation as one of the country’s most promising wide players.
On the international stage, she progressed through Uganda’s youth ranks, representing the U17 and U20 national teams before earning promotion to the senior side, the Crested Cranes, in 2023.
