The draws for the 2026 Hamz Cup have officially been conducted, ushering in anticipation for what promises to be a fiercely competitive third edition of the fast-growing community football spectacle.

The exercise was presided over by Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) Executive Committee member and Chairman of the Board at Hamz Stadium, Rogers Mulindwa.

He was joined by Ashraf Turyatunga, the Stadium Manager, alongside Hakim Kasirye, Assistant Manager of Hamz Stadium who also doubles as the tournament Coordinator and Technical Head.

This latest milestone follows the official launch held on Tuesday, 26th May at Nakivubo, setting in motion preparations for the much-anticipated championship.

The tournament will kick off on 6th June with a double-header, with the opening fixture scheduled for 4:00 PM before the second encounter lights up the evening under floodlights at 7:00 PM.

All matches will be staged at Hamz Stadium, further cementing the venue’s growing reputation as a hub for elite community football competitions.

The competition format will see the top two teams from each of the eight groups advance to the Round of 16, with the knockout stages to be contested over two legs—adding tactical depth and heightened drama to the tournament.

This year’s edition sustains the tournament’s impressive financial trajectory.

After growing from a UGX 50 million prize pool in its inaugural edition to UGX 100 million in the second, the 2026 competition will maintain the UGX 100 million purse, carefully structured to reward both collective achievement and individual brilliance.

The champions will claim UGX 30 million, while the runners-up will receive UGX 20 million.

Teams finishing third and fourth will earn UGX 15 million and UGX 10 million respectively, with those placed between fifth and eighth each taking home UGX 5 million.

Individual excellence has also been incentivized, with the team boasting the largest fan base set to receive UGX 1 million.

Additional awards for the Most Valuable Player, top scorer, best goalkeeper, and best coach will each carry a cash prize of UGX 500,000.

Media recognition has not been overlooked, with two outstanding practitioners set to share UGX 1 million.
