The 2026 Uganda Netball Super League burst into action on Saturday, 30th May, at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo, with defending champions KCCA sending an early statement of intent through two emphatic victories.
KCCA opened their title defence against UPDF, delivering a composed and dominant performance to secure a 51–34 win. The champions controlled proceedings across all four quarters, posting scores of 12–6, 12–11, 12–9, and 15–8, underlining their superiority and cohesion from the onset.
They returned later in the day to maintain their perfect start, dispatching league newcomers Canan with a convincing 60–43 victory. Despite the scoreline, Canan had earlier demonstrated resilience, narrowly falling 47–45 to Weyonje in a spirited contest that showcased their competitive potential.
Elsewhere, Police Netball Club produced one of the standout performances of the day, overcoming Buddo Secondary School 43–39 in a result that defied pre-match expectations. Central to Police’s success was mid-court maestro Bridget Namuwonge, whose five-star display proved निर्णsive. Her exceptional ball recovery, intelligent distribution, and command of tempo ensured her side maintained control at crucial moments throughout the game.
In other fixtures, Dynamite secured a solid 43–33 victory over Posta, while UCU comfortably saw off Kajjansi 51–35. UGX Luweero edged Busia Greater Lions 50–45 in a closely contested encounter.
East African champions Prisons also made a powerful statement, thrashing Kajjansi 69–38 to register the highest score of the day. Their 69-goal tally surpassed KCCA’s earlier 60-goal performance, marking them as early contenders for dominance this season. Notably, this was Kajjansi’s second fixture of the day, compounding an already difficult outing.
However, the opening day was not without disappointment. Life Sport Mysterious withdrew from the league under unclear circumstances, casting a shadow over an otherwise thrilling start to the campaign.
