Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, Rines SS, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana and five others have sealed the round of 16 slots at the ongoing Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Girls Football Championship in Mukono.
Defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School–Zana stamped their authority with a commanding 3-0 victory over Kibingo SS to secure passage to the Round of 16.
Marion Serenge led the charge with a clinical brace, while Teddy Namata added the third, with goals arriving in either half to underline their dominance.
The title holders will now face a spirited Moyo Star High School side, who announced their intent with an emphatic 5-2 demolition of Amazing Grace in the Round of 32.
Kawempe Muslim Secondary School also progressed in composed fashion, easing past Panyadoli Self Help 2-0.
Cynthia Kirenga and Meble Adong found the net to guide their side into the next round.
Rines Secondary School delivered one of the standout performances of the stage, dismantling Bunya SS 5-1 in a ruthless display.
Zoena Nandago and Justine Ayerango each struck braces, while Trina Nakawuki added her name to the scoresheet in a comprehensive rout.
In another high-scoring encounter, Latifah Mixed proved too strong for St Andrews Ruhindi, securing a 4-2 victory.
Pauline Namulinda was the star of the show with a superb hat-trick, complemented by a goal from Joan Namutwa. Esther Ampurira’s brace ultimately served as consolation for the defeated side.
Nkoma SS edged Kakungulu Memorial 1-0 in a tightly contested affair, while Uganda Martyrs High School–Lubaga held their nerve in a tense penalty shootout, overcoming Bugisu High School 5-4 after a goalless draw in normal time.
A similar script unfolded as St Charles Lwanga Kasasa eliminated Light High School Seguku, triumphing 6-5 on penalties following another barren stalemate in regulation time.
The remaining fixtures at this stage are set to be concluded later in the evening, ahead of the eagerly anticipated Round of 16 clashes scheduled for Monday morning.
