Reigning champions Kampala Queens face an increasingly steep climb in the FUFA Women Super League after another frustrating outing left their title defence hanging in the balance.

A pulsating 2-2 draw with Rines at Lugogo on Sunday exposed the inconsistency that has dogged the champions this season.

Despite flashes of quality, the side coached by Asefa Firew Hailegebreal has struggled to mirror last term’s dominant form.

Kampala Queens struck first, Peace Muduwa timing her effort perfectly to give the hosts a halftime advantage.

But Rines emerged from the interval revitalised. Patricia Nakato Nanyanzi levelled from the penalty spot before Phiona Arach turned the contest on its head.

With pressure mounting, Zaitun Namaganda rescued a point late on, though it did little to ease concerns.

The stalemate leaves the defending champions third on 22 points, seven adrift of joint leaders She Corporate and Kawempe Muslim, whose consistency is setting the pace.

Elsewhere, She Corporate underlined their credentials with a commanding 3-0 victory over Asubo Ladies at Kampala Quality Playground.

Jesca Namanda bagged a brace, while Cissy Nakate added gloss to a performance that keeps the leaders firmly in control of the title race.
