Express FC concluded the first round of the Uganda Premier League in style, securing a resounding 2-0 victory over UPDF FC at the Bombo Military Barracks grounds.

The triumph was courtesy of goals from super substitute Conrad Ssenjogera and Sam Ssenyonjo, who ensured the visitors claimed all three points.

Ssenjogera, introduced at the start of the second half, made an instant impact, scoring nine minutes later off Ssenyonjo’s efforts.

The latter then extended Express FC’s lead from the spot in the 65th minute, after Gagganga was fouled in the box by Frank Mugisa.

The win temporarily propelled Express FC to third position with 25 points from 15 games, while UPDF FC remained in 11th position with 17 points from the same number of games.

Both teams will now shift their attention to the 51st edition of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.

UPDF FC has been drawn against New Life Katereke of Nsangi in the round of 64, while Express FC will face Red Devo FC from Amolator.

The round of 64 Uganda Cup games are scheduled to take place between January 10th and 20th.
