The Venoms concluded the first round of the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League with a win against Maroons to seal top spot with 34 points, four points above second-placed NEC.

Maroons FC, on the other hand, finished the first round in fifth position with 22 points, having suffered their fifth defeat of the season.

Maroons FC’s poor performance was characterized by their inability to create meaningful chances against a solid Vipers defense.

Moses Waiswa’s 17th-minute indirect free kick proved decisive, firing into the back of the net after a slight touch by Karim Watambala.

The free kick was awarded by retiring referee Mashood Ssali after Rogers Torach was fouled.

Maroons goalkeeper Simon Tamale was in impressive form, producing brilliant saves to deny Nicholas Wadada, Hillary Mukundane, and Allan Okello.

However, his efforts were not enough to prevent Vipers from securing the win.

Milton Karisa and Kenneth Kimera squandered golden chances to increase Vipers’ lead, leaving their fans frustrated.
