With just two days to the throw off of the 21st edition of the Federation of East African Schools Sports Association (FEASSA), girls Handball defending champions Kawanda SS have this evening climaxed their preps.

Head coach Fred Ayet anticipates a hard championship right from the start. However, he is optimistic of a title defence chance ahead of the throw off.

“As we head to Bukedea, our beliefs are in our players. Hopefully they are going to do wonders for their country and school.

We train them to understand the game, situations and test of the sport in general.

Our strength is in the goalkeeping department. Her talent, game reading and decision making is exceptional.

We were pitted into a tricky group and we need to go all out right from the start of we are to defend the trophy” . Head coach Fred Ayet.

The FEASSA Games defending champions were pitted in Group A alongside Moi Girls’, Kamusinga SS (Kenya).

Njombe SS (Tanzania), Kiziguro SS Gatsibo (Rwanda) and another Ugandan side Kibuli SS.

Captain Liberty Sunday noted that her side’s unmatched unity, hard work, discipline and the huge support from the administration will be key in their title defence hunt.

“Just as we did last year, we are going prepared and determined to lift a Gold.

We have been training hard and I feel we are in shape to defend our crown.

This team is too unique. The level of unity and discipline amongst us is unmatched and this makes us a hard side to play against.

The support behind us from the administration keeps us moving to table good accountability and value for money invested in us”. Girls Handball team skipper Sunday Liberty.

Kawanda SS won last year’s gold medal in Huye, Rwanda beating rivals Gombe SS by a goal in a slim 25-24 final duel.

In the concluded USSSA National championship at Teso College Aleot in Soroti, Kawanda SS finished 2nd behind eventual winners Mbogo High School.

Mbogo High School won the National Gold after their 26-19 final win in Soroti.
