Uganda’s U-17 Women football National team (The Teen Cranes) and Cameroon played for a 1-all draw in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Qualifiers.
The draw against the physical opponent Cameroon was held at St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende, on Saturday 3rd February2024.
Kawempe Muslim’s Agnes Nabukenya scored for Uganda whilst Ennestine Heutchou equalized for visitors Cameroon.
The draw becomes Sheryl Botes’ first in charge of the U-17 team since her appointment last year.
Nabukenya sent Uganda into a 34th minute lead slotting the ball from close range.

In the 50th minute, Ernestine Heutchou equalized for Cameroon with a long range shot from outside the area.
The two sides will meet in the return leg in Cameroon capital Yaounde on Friday 9th February at Stade de Ngoa Ekele.
The aggregate winner of the tie will face the aggregate winner between Zambia and Tanzania in the next qualification round.
Cameroon’s pedigree stakes higher than Uganda having been at the World Cup finals twice in 2016 and 2018.
Dominican Republic is the host for this U-17 FIFA Women’s World Cup 8th edition.
16 teams from six confederations will feature in the final tournament which starts on Wednesday 16th October to Sunday 3rd November 2024.
