Uganda’s representatives, Amus College School, have been handed a challenging draw in the boys’ category of the CAF African Schools Football Championship CECAFA Qualifiers, set for Kigali, Rwanda, from September 3–5, 2026.

Amus College will compete in Group B alongside Somalia, South Sudan and Burundi, while Uganda’s girls have been placed in Group A with hosts Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan.
The regional qualifiers will determine the teams that advance to the continental stage, with Amus College carrying Uganda’s hopes in both categories after a historic double triumph at the USSSA National Championships in Gulu in July.
The school became the first institution to win both the boys’ and girls’ national titles in the same year, earning the right to represent Uganda at the CECAFA qualifiers.
Amus College returns to the regional stage after a three-year absence, having featured in the inaugural qualifiers in 2022.

Uganda’s boys will also draw confidence from a strong record in the competition, having reached the continental finals in each of the first four editions.
St Mary’s Kitende, Uganda’s representatives at the 2026 continental finals in Harare, Zimbabwe, finished runners-up.
As Amus College prepares for the Kigali assignment, the team has also received a financial boost, with the Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth-Oboth, contributing UGX10 million towards the school’s campaign.
Amus College will now look to make the most of favourable preparations and translate its national double into a strong regional performance.
