This year’s edition has attracted a remarkable 1,180 athletes, forming 59 teams drawn from across multiple categories including secondary schools, primary schools, universities, Super League clubs, and local clubs.

The championship features both women’s and men’s teams, reflecting the growing inclusivity and reach of the sport.

The official opening ceremony was presided over by Major Fred Malengano on Friday afternoon.

A detailed breakdown of participation shows 31 secondary school teams, nine primary school teams, three university sides, 10 Super League clubs—five of which are men’s teams—and six local clubs, including three men’s teams.

The tournament is being overseen by members of the Netball Uganda Executive Committee, led by First Vice President William Bwambale.

He is joined by Treasurer Yusuf Kamulegeya, General Secretary Aminah Mande, and the host headteacher Yahaya Ssengabi, who also serves as the Kampala Region representative.

Buganda Region representative Sarah Nkonge is also part of the organizing leadership.

The championship is scheduled to climax on Saturday, 28th March, with the National Council of Sports General Secretary, Dr. Bernard Patrick Ogwel, expected to officiate the closing ceremony.

Defending champions return with strong credentials across various categories.

St. Noa Girls Secondary School–Zana will be aiming to retain their title in the secondary schools’ category, while Kampala University and NIC Netball Club come in as reigning champions in the men’s Super League and women’s League Clubs categories respectively.
