From Theory to Practice: UVF coaching course set for grand finale in Kampal
The Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) coaching course is set to conclude on Friday, August 7, marking the culmination of a five-day intensive programme held at the Yes Centre in Nsambya, Kampala.
Launched on Monday, August 3, the course hosted by the Central Region has brought together 24 participants drawn from across the three competitive tiers of the UVF league structure.
The cohort reflects a nationwide footprint, with five participants representing upcountry regions, including two from Western Uganda and three from the Eastern Region.
The training has been facilitated by a panel of five seasoned regional instructors: Dr. Fredrick Mark Ssetabba, coach Mariam Nakamanya, Deogracious Nsereko, coach Muhammad Ntege Ishaq, and coach Asiralu Ssali.
Their delivery has been conducted under the supervision of UVF Technical Director Tony Lakoni and the Head of the Uganda Volleyball Coaches Association, Tom Mpuuja.
Designed as a strategic capacity-building initiative, the course seeks to achieve two primary objectives: to standardize coaching methodologies in line with modern volleyball principles and to enhance the technical and tactical competence of coaches across all levels of the domestic game.
Participants have engaged in both theoretical and practical modules, equipping them with contemporary tools in athlete development, match preparation, and performance analysis.
The closing ceremony and certification of participants will be presided over by UVF Vice President Ahmed Kiggundu, signaling a significant milestone in the federation’s ongoing efforts to professionalize coaching structures and elevate the overall quality of volleyball in Uganda.
