The stage is set for the 6th edition of the Inter-Islamic Secondary Schools Association (ISSAU) Games, scheduled for 27th–28th June 2026, with Buziga Islamic Theological Institute confirmed as this year’s host.
The annual event, a hallmark of Islamic dual curriculum secondary schools, continues to grow in stature as it blends competitive sport with intellectual and spiritual engagement.
This year’s edition will once again bring together institutions from across the country, unified under the theme: “Unity in Diversity is the Source of Strength.”
Organisers have curated a diverse programme that spans both outdoor and indoor disciplines.
On the field of play, schools will contest in football, netball, basketball, and volleyball, while indoor competitions will feature public speaking, poetry, and Qur’an recitation—ensuring a holistic showcase of talent.
Beyond competition, the ISSAU Games are anchored in purpose.
The initiative seeks to promote sporting excellence, cultivate teamwork and leadership, and strengthen the bonds of Islamic brotherhood among participating schools.
It also aims to instil discipline, uphold sportsmanship, and provide a platform for institutions to connect and collaborate.
Participation guidelines have been clearly outlined. All athletes must be born in 2005 or later and are required to present original academic identification documents.
Each school may register a maximum of 22 football players, 14 netball players, 14 volleyball players, alongside three officials per discipline.
The registration deadline has been set for 20th June 2026.
The two-day programme will commence on Saturday, 27th June with preliminary group stage matches across all disciplines.
Action will intensify on Sunday, 28th June with knockout rounds, culminating in finals and a grand award ceremony to crown the outstanding performers.
As anticipation builds, the 2026 ISSAU Games promise not only spirited competition but also a celebration of shared values, diversity, and unity within the Islamic education community.
Tournament History
The Inter-Islamic Schools Games have a rich history, dating back to the first edition in 2019, which was unfortunately halted due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The games resumed in 2022 with the second edition, and this year marks the 6th Edition.
Last year’s champions included Madina Islamic in Netball, Greenlight Islamic in football, and Bugembe Islamic in volleyball.
