UPL: URA FC earns crucial win over Express

In a captivating Uganda Premier League clash at the Ham Stadium in Nakivubo, URA FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Express FC.

This crucial win, their second at the venue this season, propelled the Tax Collectors into 5th place on the table, with 18 points.

Enock Walusimbi opened the scoring with a brilliant header in the 42nd minute againsthis former club, giving URA FC a slender lead going into halftime.

Express FC, despite pushing hard for an equalizer, found themselves frustrated by URA’s solid defense, which held firm until the second half.

Just after the break, Ivan Ahimbisibwe doubled the lead with a clinical shot inside the box, making it 2-0 in the 49th minute.

However, the Red Eagles fought back, and Sam Ssenyonjo pulled one back for them with a penalty, closing the gap to 2-1.

Despite Express FC’s late surge, URA FC’s defense remained resolute, and they held on to claim all three points.

The victory was a welcome boost for URA FC, especially after their recent 1-1 draw against NEC FC.

On the other hand, Express FC remained in 3rd place with 19 points but will need to regroup ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

Elsewhere, SC Villa played out a 1-1 draw with Police FC at Wankulukuku Stadium. SC Villa now sits 9th with 16 points, while Police FC is in 6th place with 17 points.

The league continues to heat up as BUL FC faces Vipers FC today at St. Mary’s Stadium and Wakiso Giants prepare to host KCCA FC tomorrow, Sunday.
