The Uganda Women’s National Cricket Team, affectionately known as the Victoria Pearls, has been flagged off to represent the country at the Emerging Women’s Trophy 2025 in Thailand.

This prestigious tournament brings together top emerging women’s cricket nations, showcasing skill, teamwork, and ambition on the international stage.

The team, comprising 16 talented players, departed for Thailand aboard Emirates Airlines, accompanied by a contingent of 24, including support staff.

Matches will be hosted at the iconic Terdthai Cricket Ground and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Bangkok.

The Victoria Pearls are riding high on the momentum of their successful 2025 Victoria Series, where they swept Canada Women 5-0 in late October.

Head Coach Deus Muhumuza expressed confidence in the team’s abilities, stating, “We and the selectors make sure we select on merit; the statistics speak for themselves. That is our best 14. We believe they are equipped enough to take on the challenge.”

Captain Janet Mbabazi echoed Muhumuza’s sentiments, saying, “We are excited as a team. Everyone who has been selected has worked hard.

The team is ready, and we’re looking forward to making a strong statement on the global stage.”

The tournament features five women’s associate members with ODI status and the top three teams from T20I rankings.

Uganda will face Scotland on November 20, 2025, at Terdthai Cricket Ground, followed by matches against Namibia, PNG, UAE, Thailand, Tanzania, and Netherlands.

The Victoria Pearls’ squad includes Janet Mbabazi (Captain), Esther Iloku, Kevin Awino, Ritah Musamali, Immaculate Nakisuuyi, Stephanie Nampiina, Proscovia Alako, Malisa Ariokot, Consy Aweko, Sarah Akiteng, Kevin Amuge, Irene Mutonyi, Naume Amongin, and Teddy Oyella, with Jimia Mohammad and Phiona Kulume as reserves.
