The National Council of Sports has flagged off Uganda’s national pool teams, comprising 16 players and six officials, as they gear up for the Africa Ultimate Pool Championship in Mpumalanga, South Africa.

The teams, consisting of talented players from various local clubs, will depart on Sunday evening, filled with confidence and high hopes for a successful tournament.

The men’s team, led by captain Rashid Wagaba aka Dog City, is composed of some of the best players in the league, including Simon Lubulwa, Caesar Chandiga, and Joseph Kasozi.

Wagaba expressed his team’s readiness for the championship, saying, “We have prepared well and had training for about three days.

I have the confidence that we shall perform well in South Africa because all the players on the team are talented.”

The women’s team, on the other hand, boasts a blend of experience and fresh talent, with players like Rashida Mutesi, Rita Nimusiima, Marion Kisakye, and Zaimatt Nambafu.

The team is led by captain Amina Faith Nganda and is expected to put up a strong fight in the championship.

Under the stewardship of acting head coach Nathan Bwankosya, the teams underwent intensive training sessions at Adis Spot in Kireka, mimicking the playing conditions for the championship.

With their confident spirits and rigorous preparation, Uganda’s national pool teams are poised to make a mark in the Africa Ultimate Pool Championship.

The championship, which takes place from October 13-18, 2025, at Ebundu Lodge in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga, features teams from various African nations, making it a highly competitive and prestigious event in the continent’s pool calendar.

The teams:

Men:

Rashid Wagaba aka Dog City (Captain), Simon Lubulwa, Ian Kazibwe,Ibra Kayanja, Ibra Sejjemba,Ceaser Chandiga, Azai Lukomwa and Joseph Kasozi .

Women:
Zaimati Nabafu , Marion Kisakye, Jacinta Kajubi, Ritah Nimusiima,Amina Faith Nganda (Captain), Juliet Namuhanga, Rashida Mutesi and Rukia Naiga .
