George Ntulume, a 17-year-old break-dancer, has added to Uganda’s medal tally at the 2025 African Youth Games in Luanda, Angola, clinching silver in the inaugural breakdance competition.
Ntulume, who topped his pool with wins over Senegal’s Cise (3-0) and a stalemate with Seny, suffered a setback with a 1-2 defeat to Algeria’s Driss.

Undundeterred, he bounced back to edge out Tunisia’s Saji 3-0 in the semifinals, setting up a thrilling final showdown with Angola’s Julio, who pipped him 2-0 for gold.

“I will take the lessons learned and come back stronger,” Ntulume said, sporting a resilient smile.
Meanwhile, Algeria’s Drisse claimed bronze, while Uganda’s other medalists included table tennis players Jemimah Nakawala and Joseph Ssebatindira, who won individual bronze medals and a team silver.
Baskaline Cherotwo took silver in the women’s 1500M, and Keren Chelimo earned bronze in the women’s 3000M.
Uganda’s delegation, led by Chef-De-Mission Harriet Aya, also featured in swimming and basketball (3X3) competitions.
