The 2025 Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) Games got off to a thrilling start at Uganda Christian University (UCU) in Mukono, with Victoria University and Kampala University (KU) men’s basketball teams making a statement with commanding wins.

Victoria University set the tone, unleashing a thunderous 100-17 thrashing of Gulu University, sending a warning shot to contenders UCU, Kampala University, and Kampala International University.

The victory showcased Victoria University’s title aspirations, and they will be a team to watch.

Kampala University also made a flying start, racking up two massive wins, including a 79-65 triumph over Uganda Martyrs’ University (UMU) and a 63-56 victory over Makerere University.

Hosts UCU got off to a winning start as well, beating Makerere University 67-55.

In the women’s basketball, UCU dominated Kyambogo University 86-20, while Kampala University edged out Makerere University Business School (MUBS) 57-41.

– UCU 67-55 Makerere University

– Victoria University 100-17 Gulu University

– KU 79-65 UMU

– Kampala 63-56 Makerere

Women:

– UCU 86-20 Kyambogo

– Kampala University 57-41 MUBS
