Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) have announced the annual Season Awards 2024, an event that is aimed at celebrating the remarkable achievements and dedication of players, coaches, and stakeholders in Ugandan cricket.

The prestigious ceremony will take place on November 30th, 2024, at the Cooper Chimney in Lugogo.

During this event, UCA will recognize and honor players, coaches and administrators for outstanding performances across all formats and levels of the game during the 2024 cricket season.

The Season Awards will highlight excellence in the following categories:

Cricketer of The Year, International Cricketer of the Year (Men and Women), Domestic Player of the Year (Men and Women), Emerging Player of the Year (Men and Women), Coach of the Year, Team of the Year among others.

2024 has been a groundbreaking year for cricket in Uganda.

The Victoria Pearls, Uganda’s women’s national team, continued to shine on the international stage winning a fourth Kwibuka title.

Special recognition will be given to Consy Aweko, a cricket legend, for her contributions as a player and leader.

Aweko reached the rare milestone of 100 T20I wickets earlier this year, becoming the second player from associate nations to achieve this feat.

The Cricket Cranes featured at their maiden T20 World Cup in West Indies, making history by defeating PNG and winning their 1st ever World Cup game.

They also won the Bronze medal at the African Games in Ghana as well as finishing unbeaten to win the 1st round of the Challenge League in Kampala.

On the domestic front, both men’s and women’s leagues saw thrilling action, with new talents emerging and seasoned players continuing to inspire.

Kutchi Tigers won their 1st 50-over league title while Wanderers won their second T20 title after 13 years.

The awards will also recognize grassroots initiatives and development programs that have been instrumental in nurturing the next generation of cricketers.

The evening will also feature a star-studded lineup of guests, including national team players, officials, sponsors, and cricket enthusiasts.
