The 50th edition for the prestigious Stanbic Uganda Cup Final is set for this Saturday, the 25th May 2024 at Muteesa II Stadium Wankulukuku.

Uganda Premier League new entrants who surprised the Ugandan football fraternity this season NEC FC and Kitara FC will face off in a highly anticipated mouthwatering epic final.

Hussein Mbalangu the NEC FC head coach eyes a Cup triumph to seal his Uganda Cup trophy double as a player and coach winning. As player with SC Villa in 2000 Mbalangu won the Uganda Cup.

Mbalangu scored the winner for SC. Villa against Military Police FC in a 1-0 final win.

“We worked for this and it’s not a mistake for us to be here. We are very for this final.

I won this trophy as a player with SC Villa and it will be a blessing to win it as a coach.

We have no pressure. It’s about concentration and victory will be our way on Saturday God willing”. Hussein Mbalangu.

Kitara finished fourth (4th) in the concluded Uganda Premier League season. They garnered 54 points compared to NEC FC’s 48 who finished sixth (6th).

During the press conference at FUFA Complex in Mengo this morning, Ssenyondo said, “We have played them twice in the and gone one apiece. It’s going to be a hard game and we have to take every moment crucial.

We had a hard run to this stage eliminating league champions SC. Villa in the round of 16 and holders Vipers SC in the quarter-finals but our mentality is winning this for our fans.

As a club, our season was top four which we successfully achieved and having a cup final on our name is a plus”.

Vipers SC are the reigning champions having won their third title last year in a 1-0 final win against Police FC.

Express FC and KCCA FC are the joint most successful clubs in this competition with 10 trophies.
