The Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) Wakiso District Girls basketball final was a nail-biting encounter that will be remembered for its intensity, controversy, and dramatic finish.

Defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana emerged victorious, defeating rival St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School-Kitende 54-43 in a match that started at noon and ended at 4:20 pm, making it the longest-played final in recent history.

The game was marred by unsporting controversies, tempers flared, and poor umpiring, but St. Noa’s determination and skill ultimately paid off.

This win marked St. Noa’s third title, following their victory in the 2024 final with a 67-49 win over the same opponent.

St. Noa’s road to the final was impressive, with a 43-10 thrashing of Kisubi Mapeera in the quarterfinals and a 34-24 win over Buddo SS in the semifinals.

St. Mary’s Kitende, on the other hand, secured their spot in the final with a hard-fought 20-17 win over Zana Mixed Secondary School in the semifinals, after eliminating Elite High School 36-18 in the quarterfinals.

In the boys’ competition, Buddo SS successfully defended their title with a 40-31 win over Mbogo Mixed Schools.

Mbogo Mixed Schools had stormed into the final with a 28-20 win over Maryland in the semifinals, while Buddo SS eliminated Elite High School.

The win cements St. Noa’s position as a dominant force in Wakiso District girls’ basketball, and they will look to continue their winning streak in future competitions.
