In a dominant display, Makerere University secured a commanding 4-0 victory over debutants King Ceasor University in the Pepsi University Football League at the Makerere Grounds.
The 2012 inaugural champions were in top form, with goals from Male Musa, Adea Ambrose, Byaruhanga Isaac, and Amabe Humphrey securing their second consecutive win of the campaign.
The William Kasozi-coached side started brightly, dictating the tempo from kickoff and taking a 2-0 lead within the first seven minutes.
Male Musa headed home a well-delivered Ian Kajubi corner in the 5th minute, followed by Adea Ambrose’s spectacular half-volley that left King Ceasor goalkeeper Niyonshuti Bruno stranded.
Makerere continued to pile pressure, with Byaruhanga Isaac extending the tally to 3-0 in the 15th minute, and Amabe Humphrey scoring the fourth goal in the 37th minute.
The second half saw a more organized King Ceasor side focused on damage control, but they couldn’t find a way past Makerere’s defense.
The win pushes Makerere to the top of Group E with six points, one ahead of Kumi University and Ndejje University, who are tied on five points.
King Ceasor, on the other hand, remains at the bottom of the group, having conceded 13 goals and scored only once in three outings.
In a notable highlight, Makerere’s Guild President, Churchill Ssentamu, came on as a substitute in the second half, becoming the first sitting guild president to feature in the Pepsi University Football League since its inception in 2012.
