St. Mary’s Kitende, St. Noa Girls-Zana and Kibuli SS were dominant winners at the inaugural USSSA Excellence Awards.

The first edition of the awards were held at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala on Friday, 15th December 2023.

St. Mary’s Kitende won a record five (5) plaques on the evening, becoming the most winner.

The Kitende based school won the School of the year 2023 award beating competition from giants Buddo SS and Kibuli.

Through Kyolaba Grace, Kitende walked home with the female sports teacher of the year Award emerging the best ahead of Atwesige Marion of Buddo SS and Alwenyi Alice of Mengo SS.

They also had additional two awards for Basketball and Netball players of the year.

The Male sports teacher of the year award went to Kibuli SS’s Erias Kasujja. Kasujja beat competition from William Ssentumbwe of St. Noah Girls Secondary School and Mulaje Ronald of SMASK.

On the same night, Allan Oyirwoth of Amus College School, Bukedea was named the best Male Athlete of the year ahead of Mutatwala Ephraim (Hockey) of Namilyango and Barigye Mathew (Tennis) of Ntare School.

In the female category, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana’s Peace Olga  Nyimwungere Peace Olga was named the Female Athlete of the year.

Olga outshined Karima Katemba (Swimming) of Agha Khan and Birungi Winnie (Tennis) of Kibuli SS.

Kawempe Muslim’s Ayub Khalifa Kiyingi was named the best male coach of the year and, Mugisha Lillian (swimming) smiled home the female coach of the year.
