Kitara return to domestic league action on Wednesday with a clear objective: turning promising starts into a first victory of the season when they host Kigezi Home Boyz at Hoima City Stadium.
The Royals have played only twice in the Uganda Premier League this campaign because of their continental commitments, collecting two points from successive 1-1 draws against SC Villa and Express, both away from home.
Wednesday’s encounter presents Kitara with their first opportunity to secure maximum points on home soil, and head coach George Lutalo is confident his side are ready to seize it.
“We are looking forward to getting positive results against Kigezi.
We are among the bottom teams on the table and this game is one that we want to win and remain in the competition,” said Lutalo.
“We have prepared ourselves well and everyone that has been training is ready to give their best once selected,” he added.
Kitara will welcome back Kabon Living and Jimmy Kalema, who missed the draw against Express, while Patrick Kaddu and Isaac Amutuhaire have been cleared to play after recovering from knocks sustained in that match.
Kigezi Home Boyz, meanwhile, arrive in Hoima with an identical ambition after collecting just one point from their opening three matches.
The Gorillas earned their solitary point against KCCA at Rwamwanja Stadium in Kamwenge but were subsequently beaten 3-0 by SC Villa.
They had also suffered defeat to Lugazi earlier in the campaign.
Both sides therefore enter the contest seeking their first league victory, with three points potentially providing an important lift as the season gathers momentum.
Elsewhere, record champions SC Villa visit Kataka at Bukedea, Lugazi travel to Maroons at Wankulukuku, while Ntugasaze host Mbarara City at Police Arena, Kira Road.
Ntugasaze are still searching for their first point of the campaign, while Mbarara City have two points from draws against NEC and Entebbe UPPC.
At Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, Maroons and Lugazi will also be looking to respond immediately after defeats in their previous outings.
