Kampala Queens, Uganda’s FUFA Women Super League champions, suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Kenya Police Bullets in the CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.

The defeat puts their group stage advancement in jeopardy.

The game’s only goal was scored by Emily Kamunto Morango in the 46th minute, capitalizing on a poorly timed clearance by Kampala Queens’ goalkeeper Daisy Nakaziro. Morango easily headed the ball into the empty net, giving Kenya Police Bullets a 1-0 lead.

Kampala Queens struggled to find their footing throughout the match, with Margaret Kunihira, a former Queens forward, outshining them.

Despite dominating possession, Kenya Police Bullets failed to capitalize on their chances in the first half.

In the second half, Kampala Queens made several substitutions but couldn’t break through the Kenyan defense.

What’s Next?

With this loss, Kampala Queens face an uphill battle to advance to the semifinals.

Kenya Police Bullets, on the other hand, lead the group with three points and will need only a single point in their next match against Denden to secure a spot in the semifinals.

The CECAFA qualifiers feature nine teams divided into three groups of three, with the top team from each group and the best runner-up advancing to the semifinals

Upcoming Matches:

Semifinals: September 13, 2025, at Ulinzi Complex (12:30 pm and 3:30 pm)

Final: September 16, 2025, at Nyayo Stadium (3:00 pm)
