Finance Trust Bank has stepped up its investment in Ugandan women’s football with a Shs100 million commitment towards a one-day symposium designed to shape the next phase of the women’s game.
The symposium, scheduled for September 9, 2026, at Skys Hotel in Naguru, will precede the start of the 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League and Women Elite League seasons.
It will bring together stakeholders from FUFA, women’s football clubs, the corporate sector and the media to examine the progress of the game, confront existing challenges and develop strategies for strengthening its future.
FUFA 2nd Vice President Dr Aza Taibuh believes the rapid expansion of women’s football provides a strong foundation for further development, while stressing that the journey is far from complete.
“As we have seen, women’s football in Uganda has grown tremendously in the last few years.
The Super League and Elite League have been strengthened, and we also now have Regional Women Football Leagues.
Consequently, our different women’s national football teams have been performing well at regional and continental levels.
The game has, without a doubt, grown, but there is more to be done, hence this symposium,” Dr Aza said.
Finance Trust Bank, the title sponsor of both the Women Super League and Women Elite League, has provided the Shs100 million sponsorship in cash to facilitate the symposium.
The bank says its involvement goes beyond competition sponsorship, with its investment in the forum reflecting a broader commitment to advancing opportunities for women across different sectors.

This is why we have been sponsoring the women’s football leagues and why we are today also headlining this Women Football Symposium,” said Percy Lubega, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs at Finance Trust Bank.
The gathering will also provide an opportunity to celebrate achievements from the 2025/26 season, with outstanding players and coaches set to be recognised.
Organisers confirmed during the press conference that the best player across the two sponsored leagues will be honoured, alongside the Best Coach and Best Upcoming Talent.
Additional award categories are still being considered.
With the women’s game expanding from the national leagues to regional competitions and Uganda’s national teams making notable progress on the regional and continental stage, the symposium is expected to focus on turning that momentum into long-term growth.
The discussions will centre on improving the visibility, sustainability and overall development of women’s football while creating stronger links between football stakeholders and the corporate sector.
The 2026/27 Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League is scheduled to commence on September 12, three days after the symposium.
