The 2026 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) National Basketball Championships have surged into their decisive phase, with thrilling quarter-final and semi-final contests setting up compelling boys’ and girls’ finals.
The road to the finals began with an intense round of quarter-final matchups. In the girls’ category, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana edged Buddo Secondary School 37–32, while Seroma overcame Mvara 39–32. Nabisunsa delivered a dominant 69–45 victory over Nalya, and St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School–Kitende cruised past Ndejje S.S with a commanding 66–17 win.
In the boys’ quarter-finals, St. Cyprian Kyabakadde stunned Jinja with a 52–38 triumph, while St. Micheal proved too strong for Kibuli, winning 44–33. Defending champions Amus College held off Hope Secondary School 50–45, and Seeta High School ‘A’ edged Seroma in a nail-biting 44–43 encounter.
The semi-finals intensified the competition further. In the boys’ category, St. Micheal secured a hard-fought 51–47 victory over Seeta A to book their place in the final, while Amus College kept their title defense alive with a 54–50 win against Kyabakadde.
On the girls’ side, Kitende displayed composure and quality in a 48–36 win over Seroma, while defending champions St. Noa maintained their dominance with a 53–39 victory against Nabisunsa.
These results have set up highly anticipated finals. In the boys’ showdown, Seeta A will face St. Micheal, while the girls’ crown will be contested between St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School–Kitende and defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana.
All quarter-final fixtures were played at Seroma Christian High School for the girls and Uganda Christian University (UCU) for the boys. The championship will conclude with third-place classification games before the finals tip off at UCU.
Despite falling short of the final, several teams have secured regional representation. Semi-finalists—including St. Noa, Kitende, Nabisunsa, and Seroma in the girls’ category, as well as Amus College, Kyabakadde, and Seeta A in the boys’ division—have all qualified for the upcoming Federation of East Africa Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) Games scheduled for August.
With defending champions St. Noa Girls and Amus College still in contention, the stage is perfectly set for a dramatic conclusion to this year’s championship.
