St. Noa Girls (Uganda) 2-1 Ziba (TZ)

Butera Girls  (Kenya) 1-3 Kawempe Muslim( Uganda)

Federation of East African Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) defending champions St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana and Kawempe Muslim SS are off the mark in their opening fixtures.

The FEASSSA Games kicked off yesterday, the 19th August 2023 at Huye Stadium in Rwanda.

The reining champions St. Noa Girls slimly won by 2-1 against Tanzanian side Ziba at Rwanda University grounds.

Captain Sarah Babirye lived by example to score the opener for the Zana based side as the first stanza ended 1-0.

Four minutes into the second half, tension rose for St. Noa Girls after conceding an equalizer.

Sylvia Kabene sealed the victory for Uganda side St. Noa with a hard close range shot in last ten minutes of play.

Speaking to this website, St. Noa Girls Secondary School-Zana head coach James Mukubya said, “ The pitch didn’t favor our style of play and it failed my players to exploit the opponent the way we planned.

However, first games are always hard and we can’t judge the player now since they travelled a longer distance.

I will keep encouraging them to play our way and with time we shall improve as we grow into the tournament.

It’s important we won. We shall build on the victory for better. Every opponent here is strong and we shall handle a game at a time.

All in all, there is no bad win in football”. James Mukubya.

St. Noa Girls Secondary School will GS Gatizo of Rwanda tomorrow afternoon.

Meanwhile, Kawempe Muslim Secondary School beat Butera Girls of Kenya by 3-1 in the opener.

Allen Nassazi, Hadijjah Babirye, Phiona Nabulime were on target for Kawempe whilst Diana Anyango scored a consolation for Kenya’s Butera Girls

On Monday afternoon, Kawempe will face off with Ziba before they meet St. Noa in a Ugandan affair of group A in match day three.
