City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge unveils thrilling lineup for 8th edition

The highly anticipated 8th edition of the City Tyres East Africa Badminton Challenge was officially launched at the Mandela Group of Companies head offices in Kampala, Uganda.

Distinguished guests, including Mr. Feng Wang, President of Linglong Group, and Mr. Venkatesh Kumar, CEO of Mandela Group, graced the ceremony, underscoring the event’s significance.

Over 1,500 participants from around the world, including Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, DR Congo, Burundi, and South Sudan, will converge on Kampala’s Lugogo Indoor Arena from October 16th to 19th.

The tournament features a wide range of categories, including schools, university teams, corporate teams, foreigners living in Uganda, veterans, and professionals.

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, Mandela Group is dedicated to promoting sports and nurturing young talent in East Africa.

“We believe that engaging young people in sports not only fosters talent but also promotes teamwork, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle,” said Mr. Venkatesh Kumar.

Uganda Badminton Association CEO Simon Mugabi highlighted the tournament’s importance, stating,

“This competition portrays the future of badminton in the country, and through the support of City Tyres, Uganda is number one in Africa.”

The event aims to provide exposure for players and drive the growth of badminton in the region.
