Buddo Secondary School Netball Club have registered their first-ever Uganda Netball Super League win on only their second attempt, marking an early milestone in their debut top-flight campaign.
Promoted as champions from the lower division this season, Buddo Secondary School Netball Club are already showing promising signs of belonging among the elite—even before the halfway mark of the league.
Dominated by a youthful and largely inexperienced group of schoolgirls, the side delivered a composed performance to secure a historic first victory.
They defeated fellow school-based outfit Canan 40–36 in a closely contested encounter.
According to team captain Fortunate Anirwoth Kizito, the team’s primary ambition in the league is to test themselves against and learn from their idols.
“It’s amazing and I attribute the win to team work and hard.
Our mission here is to learn from the senior players especially those at the National team the She Cranes.

Rubbing shoulders with our seniors motivates us to aim for more.
This first historic topflight league win gives us determination and courage to push ourselves for more.”
Consequently, head coach Jessy Asiimwe emphasised that the broader objective remains focused on development—providing exposure and experience to nurture future dominance at the secondary school level.
“We having worked hard to see our first win coming since we joined the top flight.
This is a project and our long term target in this league is exposure and acquiring experience to help us dominate netball in Secondary Schools Competitions.
We were scared after a tough reception and welcome to the super league.
But this win will motivate the girls going forward in our next engagement.”
Buddo edged a tightly fought match, taking the first quarter 9–8 before settling for identical 10–10 and 11–11 draws in the second and third quarters respectively.
They sealed victory with a decisive 10–7 fourth-quarter performance, closing out a 40–36 triumph to register their first league win.
In their season opener, Buddo had suffered a tough 43–39 defeat to 2004 champions Police.
