Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) FC claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) FC in a closely contested Uganda Premier League encounter at Hamz Stadium on Friday evening.
Substitute Ivan Ahimbisibwe proved the difference between the two sides, striking in the 58th minute to hand the Kasasiro Boys maximum points on a chilly evening as Uganda celebrated its 64th Independence Day.
The forward finished emphatically past URA goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba after Sammy Ssebaduka delivered an incisive cutback, capping a promising attacking move that finally broke the deadlock.

Ahimbisibwe had an opportunity to double KCCA’s advantage moments later but squandered the chance to complete a brace, blasting a penalty over the crossbar after Ssebaduka had been brought down inside the penalty area.
The victory rewarded KCCA’s persistence in a match that grew increasingly physical, with both sides creating opportunities but struggling to convert their promising passages of play.
KCCA could have taken the lead as early as the 15th minute when Emmanuel Anyama broke through the URA defensive line and beat the offside trap. However, with only Ssekebba to beat, the forward sent his effort wide.
Youngster Joseph Junior Jude Kakooza also came close for the visitors in the 23rd minute, volleying Lazaro Muhindo’s cross off target as KCCA pressed for an opener.
URA, meanwhile, threatened early through midfielder Norman Namanya, who headed over from close range in the 13th minute.
The Tax Collectors subsequently survived a major scare around the half-hour mark when captain Arthur Kiggundu cleared the ball off the goal line to deny KCCA a breakthrough.
At the opposite end, Godfrey Ssekibengo tested KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa with a long-range effort from approximately 30 yards, but the shot-stopper was equal to the challenge. Ssekibengo threatened again towards the end of the first half with another attempt on target.
The intensity of the contest was reflected in the disciplinary record, with FIFA referee Shamirah Nabadda issuing several cautions as tempers and physical challenges increased.

Alex Yiga was the first player booked in the 20th minute for pulling down Ibrahim Kasule. URA midfielder Marvin Nyanzi followed four minutes later after a late challenge on Yunus Sibira.
Further bookings went to Ibrahim Wamannah for bringing down Kasule in the 31st minute, while Sibira was also cautioned shortly afterwards for a similar offence.
Despite URA’s resistance and the missed penalty, KCCA held on to secure a valuable victory in Matchday Five of the 2026/27 Uganda Premier League season.
